What is Voice Diagnostics?
Immense research in the area of acoustic analysis of speech signal has identified the
acoustic parameters that help in the diagnosis and treatment of voice disorders.
It is important and imperative to make an objective assessment of voice at pre and post
operative stages instead of subjective evaluation. Follow-up therapy also becomes essential.
Features
Vaghmi_Pro Diagnostics implements techniques
for the measurement of clinically relevant parameters turning a personal computer into a
powerful diagnostic equipment. Implementation is both efficient (fast) and accurate.
It presents the parameters in appealing graphic forms and generates meaningful clinical
reports along with the Normative data. The measured parameters are saved in
standard Database format.
Reports can be printed with/without Normative data. Reports can be printed on clinic's letter head with clinic's logo.

Modular Design
Customer has three options for placing orders on Vaghmi_Pro Diagnostics:
Basic Diagnostics: Includes Basic Acoustic Analysis and On-line measurements
Advanced Diagnostics: Includes Basic Diagnostics + Advanced Features + Physiological Modules
Advanced Diagnostics+Spectrograph: Includes Basic Diagnostics + Advanced Features + Physiological Modules + Spectrograph
Basic Diagnostics
Basic Diagnostics includes Basic Acoustic Analysis of phontation (sustained vowel) and speech (vowel with F0 glide or an utterance) On-Line Measurements
The following calculations are made in Basic Acoustic Analysis:

F0 and Intensity Measurements : Mean, standard deviation, maximum, minimum, range,
rate and range of fluctuations etc.

Jitter and Shimmer Statistics, Histograms and
Correlograms. Harmonic to Noise Ratio. Sub-Harmonic to Fundamental Amplitude Ratio.

Calculation of F0-contour, Intensity-contour,
Phonetogram, Alfa, Beta and Gamma ratios.
'On-Line' implies measuring while the subject is phonating/speaking.
Appropriate graphic feedback is provided.
Automatic detection of voicing or frication or voiced frication is made for S/Z Ratio measurement.
The On-Line Measurements are:
- Maximum Phonation Duration
- S/Z ratio
- Nasalence and Tonar
- Diadacho-kinetic rate (DDK)
Note:Nasalence meaurement requires SIU-D and two microphone setup as an accessory.

Advanced features and
Physiological Module - EGG Physiological Module- Acoustic Glottography
Advanced Features
With this module the user can control the
variables for analysis. Display of parameters in detail along with cursor facility
is provided to read the values at cursor location. Additional display screens are
available. Example: Display of period-to-period variations. Tremor in F0 and Intensity.
Multiple reports (Crystal report) can be generated for the same utterance.
F0 can be superposed on the narrow-band spectrogram. User can interactively
select the location for marking the glottal or EGG and obtain frame-by-frame
variation and also validate the results. Event Analysis menu option displays the signal
waveform and auto-correlaiton at the frame selected. This is useful for setting the options. Facility is provided for Display of
phonation/speech signal and graphic editing (VagPro_Utility program comes with
the Advanced Features Module.)
Physiological - EGG
EGG instrument is required as an accessory to make use of this meaurement. EGG signal is displayed. Physiological events are markerd automatically. User can edit these locations. Parameters such as open time, open phase, closed time,
closed phase etc are measured. Recorded EGG can be compared with pre-stored EGG patterns of vocie disorders.
Physiological - Acoustic glottography
Phonation signal is inverse filtered to remove the formant data and obtain
glottal flow and its derivative. Inverse filtered signal or the acoustic glottogram is displayed.
Important physiological events are automatically marked. User can edit these locations.
Parameters such as open quotient, speed quotient,
spectral-roll-off etc. are measured. Recorded glottogram can be compared with prestored glottograms of vocie disorders.
Advanced Diagnostics with Spectrograph Analysis Option
This is an additional feature built-into Advanced Diagnostics. This feature can be used to obtain Wide-band, Narrow-band, very-wide-band spectrograms
either in Gray or color with options to change gain, contrast, frequency axis unit and/or
range, obtain spectral section. Hardcopy print out of spectrograms can be obtained. F)-contour can be overlaid on the narow-band spectrogram.
